I’ve been studying with Hayden for two years, and I can’t recommend them highly enough - they are an excellent violinist, and a compassionate, motivating and talented teacher! Hayden quickly intuited how I learn best, and they tailor their teaching style and choice of pieces to keep me motivated and having fun. I can’t believe how far I’ve come from never having touched a violin two years ago, and I look forward to my lesson every week. Thank you Hayden!

Interested in violin lessons but need an instructor who respects your unique needs?

I am a violin teacher with a decade of experience. I specialize in adapting violin technique and pedagogy to the diverse needs of my students. I love to teach Celtic, Canadian, and American fiddle styles as well as classical violin and viola. I prioritize ergonomics, technical excellence, and finding sustainable ways for you to have fun making music. I believe that each student is the best expert in their own needs and learning style, and it is my job as your instructor to work within those needs to teach you the formal technique you will need to achieve your goals.

Having grown up playing violin as a trans, disabled person in a homogeneous musical community, I know what it feels like to be the odd one out when trying to find safe places to learn. I strive to create a welcoming lesson environment that is LGBT affirming, anti-racist, and disability inclusive.

I am happy to book either virtual lessons or work in-person in my Seattle studio. I practice COVID-19 risk mitigation and will be happy to talk about what you need to meet safely in-person.
